Traveling south to the Red Power Round Up Keith and I stopped at a great diner in Pinckneyville, Illinois, the town where I was born. My dad was a school teacher for a few short years in Nashville and we wanted to check out the local cuisine. Are we glad we did! Crab cakes and Parmesan Shrimp, French Onion Soup, a Caeser salad and several helpings of their Rosemary Table flatbread and we waddled out of the restaurant to the truck.
Owned by Debbie and Brian Bender, Courtside Grill and Bar just recently had a reopening in June with a new manager, Tracy Starkweather. With years of experience under her belt this award winning manager said she enjoyed bringing something different to Perry County. The grill has the local sports decor sharing Panther highlights over the years which offers something for the locals along food that won’t be forgotten. Together this makes for a winning combo and a great place for travelers to stop whether you are talking lunch or dinner. Highlights of the dinner menu include Garlic Parmesan Pork, Bacon Wrapped Beef Filet and Smothered Chicken. For lighter eaters, there is also chicken tenders and fish tacos. Pizza is also big at Courtside and they offer an array of pizza choices that you can check out on the link http://eatcourtside.com/menu/
