Christmas Cactus blooms for Easter

cactus TA

I have a Christmas cactus, it isn’t pretty except when it blooms, but then it is glorious.  It is an old plant, one that my Mom was going to throw away years ago.  I took it home.  The way I take care of plants, I can’t say I saved it, but at times, it saves me.  Like now, the plant has blooms, it is not Christmas, however, it is almost Easter.

The pink blooms remind me of the Love of our Savior and that wonderful things come out of the mundane.  The plant that sits on top of my filtered water and receives little attention has been working using the nutrients and what little water I mete out to provide a lovely gift, it is full of blooms.

Today is full of errands and cross of the list types of activities.  I cleaned, walked and laundry swishes in the next room as I write.  I have an article to finish, chores to do and visits to make.  But in the back of my mind now, all day, as I travel from place to place, job to job, I have the vision of this flower, sharing God’s love reminding me that I am loved even in the little things, all year round!
