Myrtle’s in Princeton, a Pie Kind of Place!

Wondering home from a trip up north we stopped at an antique store in Princeton, Illinois. Before we left we asked as we often do about the best place to eat.  The clerks quickly told us Myrtle’s Café.  “I have never heard anything bad about the food and they have AMAZING pie.”

With that in mind, we headed down the road and found the building with a picture of we figure Myrtle on the side.  I was already predisposed to like it because my great- grandmother’s name was Myrtle Piney, so the food may very well be like grandma made.  We were not starved so we both had soup, Keith what he deemed the best French Onion he’s ever had, and I had some awesome chili with cheese and onions.  To top it off, we had to have, pie!

Since I am trying to watch it, we decided to share a piece of Coconut Cream pie.  The waitress told us that one person, David the owner.  “He has been making pies since he was 16,” she said.

The pie was Too Die For!  So great.  We were very excited to have found a new haunt when we travel up north and wanted to share this place with others. Check out their Facebook pagekeithhttps://www.facebook.com/MyrtlesCafeAndPie/reviews and you will find reviews like ours. I never had  my great grandma’s pies, but my grandmother Ena had awesome pies.  In fact, in I will even share her amazing pie crust recipe.
