A Touch of Home, an Amana Oasis!
One of the best ways to enjoy the Amana Colonies is to stay right in the heart of Amana. A Touch of Home (http://www.atouchofhomebb.com) is a new bed and breakfast that opened this past June and the owners, offer a bang up breakfast for those lucky enough to secure reservations. Their home is in the historic district and was built in 1895, which served as a boarding house. The B & B is within walking distance of these attractions: restaurants, theatre, general store, wineries, museum, art galleries, antique stores, quilting store, meat market, brewery and much more!
Part of the fun in staying at a bed and breakfast is learning first hand some of the history and customs of the area. “If you want bread from Hahns Bakery you have to be there by 7:00,” Jan the owner shared.
Brochures and directions helped first time visitors from a nearby city in Iowa obtain tickets for the Radio Scrooge, learn the best places to shop and introduced them to a couple from Omaha that visit so often the locals are surprised to see them when they stop by at a time other than festival time.
