Barn at the beautiful Gilmore Car Museum- photo by Keith Ladage
This car museum outside the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan was home to a tractor show the last weekend of June. The Gilmore Car museum which sits on 90 acres offers over 300 vintage automobiles trucks and motorcycles.
Started in 1963, the museum began when Donald Gilmore’s wife Genevieve gave him a car for his birthday. The hobby expanded and Gilmore purchased farmland adjacent to his summer home moving barns onsite to house his massive collection.
Probably one of the finest car museums in the world, the museum includes eight historic barns, a re-created 1930s service station, a small town train station, and nearly three miles of paved roads. The museum is open year round with some buildings and exhibits closed between December and March. They are open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The museum is located at 6865 Hickory Rd, Hickory Corners, MI 49060.
