It’s the little things!

It’s the little things

We all look for that big AHA moment, but the older I get the more I realize it is the little things that make up the fabric of joy and a deep contentment.  It is the card my husband received from my six year old granddaughter yesterday that said, “I love you Papa”, it is the Christmas teapots my daughter Allie lovingly decorated my kitchen island with, it is the “Yes we got home” gruff response from my son Jason and the fifteen minutes my oldest daughter Carrie spent on Sunday afternoon sipping tea and eating cookies that fill our lives, these are the little things that matter.

The moments spent with Keith watching our granddaughter practice tumbling and our grandson repeat his story of Joseph and the coat from Sunday school make up the fabric of the day to day things to cherish. There is much to be sad about in our world.  I lost my father last February, a relative passed away this week and there has been much sickness and sadness in the world wide news lately, but in the midst of all of this are little moments, little things to hold on to that can wipe away the tears and bring a smile.

In Bible study we have been studying revelations and it is filled with many frightening things and many things I don’t comprehend, but I do cling to the verse Revelation 21:4 saying “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

As we travel through the holiday season from one house to another and enjoy our friends and family, lets cling to the little things, though they may look minute, when you put them all together, they add up to the pieces of the quilt of our lives and it is a beautiful picture.
