2016 Illinois State Fair Preview, get ready.
It’s always a whirlwind, the Preview Day, the Twilight Parade, the Butter Cow, then the fair! This year’s preview day had a few great additions they mentioned. There is a new free APP for the Illinois State Fair that has a map, a food finder, and event listing. As someone directionally challenged, the map and the fact that I can tap on an item and get walking directions to it is great.
Other fun news especially for Chicago Bear fans is that the Grand Marshal for the Twilight Parade are former Bear Super Bowl Winners. This year the Twilight Parade which kicks off the fair will start at 5:30, that attendees can come to the first free Preview Night Grandstand show. The show will feature Dan Hampton, Otis Wilson and Steve McMichael, all members of the ’85 Bears defensive line. These players formed a band called The Chicago 6. They perform throughout the state, including high profile events such as the recent NFL Draft in Chicago. Fair Manager Kevin Gordon said that these Super Bowl champions play everything from ZZ Top to Smokey Robinson and John Mellencamp.
