DeBrand Fine Chocolates, Decadance in Fort Wayne!
All I can say about DeBrand Fine Chocolates is yum! On a hosted trip to Fort Wayne, mom and I met up with our hostesses Jessa and Kristen at the chocolate store to get a chance to get acquainted face to face.
I find it interesting that the DeBrand Chocolate story, like the Vera Bradley story is about a young woman entrepreneur. According to the history on their website, DeBrand Chocolate was started by Cathy Brand-Beere who combined her love of art and creativity in chocolate. Growing up in a family with a confectionary business, she began her love affair with chocolate at the age of eight. In 1987, she took her love to a new level and opened DeBrand Fine Chocolates in Fort Wayne.
Today DeBrand employees nearly 100 people with four retail shops in Fort Wayne and a mail order department that ships all over the world. In 2010, they also stated a Wholesale Division selling products to retailers.
I personally can vouch for the high quality and amazing taste of their chocolate and nuts!
When we were offered dessert, I am almost embarrassed to say we didn’t hesitate. We selected this amazing concoction with ice cream covered in a hardened chocolate, surrounded by pecans and drizzled with chocolate. Words really can’t quite describe the taste especially for a chocoholic like me. You could choose to have dark or light chocolate, I chose light for the hard shell and dark for my drizzle. It was so pretty we had to pause a minute before devouring ALL of it!
Besides the obvious food delights, you can even take a tour at DeBrands headquarters for a scant $5.00. If I had time that day that would have been right up my alley. The store is bright, clean and fun! The biggest challenge is deciding what you want, that can be a timely choice.
