The Sweet Suite!
Yesterday we traveled to Effingham, Illinois to attend a concert. We went to watch the Confederate Railroad and Kentucky Headhunters perform and stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites. I had not really noticed that this was a “suite” when I booked our lodging, but it was, and when we checked in we saw why. The room was as Keith likes to say, “swanky”. It had all the bells and whistles. Arriving a bit ahead of time instead of playing tourist, we played lounge lizards and watched TV, ate popcorn from the lobby (and a cookie for Keith).
I tried out the herbal tea and we propped up the pillows on the big king sized bed and revved up the big screen TV for a couple hours before joining some family and friends for dinner and a wonderful concert. The room was plush and we enjoyed all the amenities.
Often when traveling we are so busy it is in, and out, with barely time to rest our head on the pillow and really look around our surroundings. This morning, I finished off the herbal tea, we used the big shower and ate the nice breakfast they offered before heading out. I had every intention of using the fit club but the late night hours (late for us old foggies anyway) made me decide to exercise in the afternoon sunshine instead.
Anyway, it is pretty amazing that Effingham has such a wonderful outlet as the Effingham Performance Center bringing great talent to town and it is great that they also offer sweet suites to enjoy a quiet place to stay to wind down before and after!
