The Steel Plow Burger Co. A Dining Event!

It makes sense that in Moline, Illinois, the home of John Deere, that you might find a restaurant named The Steel Plow! What makes it even better is that the food was awesome! Jessica Waytenick from the Visit Quad Cities hosted my friend Annie Jansen and I on our visit to the area.

Our Visit

We came to tour QCR Holdings, INC, Quad City Bank & Trust which is located in the former Velie Mansion. While we were in town, we wanted to dine at an authentic local diner and Jessica found us just the spot.

The Dining Experience

What an appropriate name for the city where John Deere’s is king!

Right off the bat, the atmosphere was wonderful. I was especially thrilled when we were seated next to a fire place. With the temperature hovering outside around 19 degrees most of the day, that fire warmed more than just my heart!

There is a fully stocked bar area for those seeking libations and a neat seating area for a family dining experience as well.

Pictures on the wall, are reminiscent of farm type scenes letting you know just exactly what town you are in.

Eden serving my wonderful French Onion Burger!

When asked what she suggested, Jessica said The Steel Plow was famous for their burgers. In fact, Eden, our server explained that they even have a burger of the month. While it sounded quite good, I couldn’t get past the French Onion Burger. It came with the opportunity to try a fries variety selection. Who does that? Nobody that I know!

The burger was awesome, since all their beef is grass fed, no wonder it tasted so good. I also loved the variety of tastes in the fries. Annie loved her choice of Cobb Salad and Jessica was pleased with her Pulled Pork as well. Yum all around.

Dessert

This amazing shake of the month was called Monkey Business!

“Do you want to try a shake?” Jessica asked. This isn’t just a shake. Monkey Business was the shake of the month. Eden shared was comprised of whipped cream, caramel drizzle, tootsie pop, banana foster cake, jelly hamburger candy, ice cream and so much more!

Annie was good and just watched Jessica and I destroy this piece of art. We deconstructed the top just to be able to eat it. Then we had at it. The cake was moist and tasty, the shake was creamy and amazing! The food at the Steel Plow is just plain good.
