Fun at 9 Irish Brothers
At this year’s Graham Bradley tractor gathering, a group of women, five of us from Illinois, Iowa and Ohio set out to tour the Lafayette and West Lafayette countryside. After antiquing in the morning we stopped for lunch at the iconic 9 Irish Brothers. When we saw the sign “And Five Irish Sisters” we knew we had to take our picture in front of it. The atmosphere was perfect for a day out and we enjoyed the friendly service and great food. I split an order of Fish & Chips and although I swore I couldn’t eat it all finished my plate!
Located at 119 Howard Avenue in West Lafayette, this pub is owned by Jerry O’Bryan. According to their website, he is the youngest of nine boys (Berton, Jim, Michael, Norman, Bobby, Tim, John, and Willie) and five girls (Julie, Colleen, Patricia, Muriel, and Karen). The sign that we posed under was placed above the bar to pay tribute to his sisters. Being women, we admired that touch! The restaurant is family-owned, family-designed-and-built, and family-run. This is a great place for a family meal, or a girl’s day out. Call (765) 746-4782 or log onto their website at www.nineirishbrothers.com!
