Innovative Museum where children can learn about farming
My daughter told me about the museum in Normal, IL a while back. We finally got a chance to take the grandkids and check it out. From my mom to my daughter to my grandkids we were all impressed with the hands on opportunities offered at this museum where nothing was off limits.
As a farmer’s wife I was thrilled to see the display is called AgMazing that and is touted as the largest agricultural exhibit at a children’s museum in the country. The kids climbed into a tractor seat, drove a combine and saw how it worked, milked a pretty realistic looking cow and saw how grain moves through an auger. Pretty heady stuff for a farm girl.
Besides the farm exhibits there was also Healthy Kids-Healthy Future, featuring a Fresh Market and Healthy Pizza Cafe; Way to Go; and Dig It! the museum’s first outdoor exhibit as well as a chance for kids to get creative in the Art Studio or gigantic Paint Wall, climb the two-story Luckey Climber, and more.
The museum is open Tuesday and Wednesday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Thursday and Friday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm, Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday: 1:00 – 5:00 pm.
