Fun at the Natural Valley Ranch
When traveling, part of the fun is where you stay and while on a trip to Hendricks County Indiana, I had a chance along with a group of travel writers to stay at a cabin on the Natural Valley Ranch. The cabin was spacious and quite lovely. The Cabin was built in 2011 and is made of beautiful native Indiana White Pine Logs. The cabin consists of 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths. The main master bedroom has a large walk in closet, whirlpool tub, walk in shower with a wall mount head and a rain head. Televisions in all the bedrooms. The living space on the main floor is an open concept. The kitchen and main floor being all open allowed us to visit back and forth. There is nothing like a log cabin decorated with beautiful furniture and a kitchen and loft to make a girl dream.
This 5,200 square foot log cabin is situated on a family-owned working 78-acre horse farm which specializes in trail rides. We were supposed to ride horses, but again the rain daunted our activities, but we were able to enjoy seeing the variety of animals which includes and albino turkey that greeted us when we first arrived. There is also a pet pig running around along with the horses, ducks, goats and other animals! If we could have ridden, we could have a choice of a 30, 60 and 90-minute guided trail rides along the banks of White Lick Creek which winds through the property.
The cabin overlooks a 3-acre lake where we had planned to have a bonfire, however some of our plans were thwarted by the rain, but after we all stashed our stuff after a big meals, we sat out on the wrap around porch and shot the breeze until we couldn’t stay awake any longer. What a great way to get to know one another and in such a wonderful setting.
I stayed in an upstairs loft room and slept like a baby. With Wifi and all the amenities, it was what I think of as glamour roughing it! This is a great place for a family reunion, girls getaway or extended family trip. Besides the cabin, there is also a cottage that can be rented as well.
Great place to unwind and being not far from Indianapolis, families can enjoy the best of the city and the country. When I can stay at a place that is different, I always choose character over a regular hotel. This is a wonderful place to make memories. I will long remember the people I met and reconnected with and the fun we had. I only wish it was longer and that I had more time to explore this beautiful place!
