Homewood Suites -Home Away from Home in Kansas City!
August 1- 3, 2018 I followed the Yellow Brick Road. If you want to be exact, I drove Highway 70 to Kansas City, Kansas for a hosted visit. During my stay, I was at the spanking brand new Homewood Suites by Hilton Kansas City Speedway.
The property is so new that the concrete out front of the check in was not dry when I brought my luggage in! The staff was friendly and courteous when I checked in. It was a breeze getting my key and directions and before I knew it I was on my way to my room.
The room was perfect for a working stay. I checked in, hung up my clothes, set up my iPad and I was ready to work. Rooms are work ready, but with the creature comforts of home. There is a tidy little kitchen, a sitting area and a nice big bed. Best of all though there is a HUGE walk in shower with a clean clear bathroom area. Nice, nice nice!
After check in, we all met for a meet and greet with the CVB staff and to meet the other attendees. The hotel has a good size meeting room. There was a complimentary reception with salad and chips the night we were there. Each night there is a different menu. There was soda and wine choices available as well. You didn’t have to be part of a meeting group to enjoy this great aspect of a stay at the Homewood Suites.
It was nice that there was a room where we could all meet and get to know one another before setting out to view the city. For those coming to the Kansas City Speedway, Homewood Suites is a perfect location!
The bright colors make the Homewood Suites hotel an attractive environment. There is a nice big pool. While I was there, a group of kids were enjoying a last hurrah before summer ground to a halt and they were back in school. In the morning I got up early and enjoyed the 24-hour fitness center. There were enough machines and something I always appreciate, water to drink.
There is a nice patio area and we noted one evening on our way out on gentleman grilling. He was almost doing a little dance around the grill to the wonderful aroma. It smelled so good we all almost turned around, but alas, we were not invited.
Breakfast is available each morning and they offer a hot breakfast which again is something I very much appreciate. Unlike some people who just want coffee, I need something filling to get my morning kickstarted. Each morning I had eggs and fruit to start my day.
The rooms were nice and quiet, the Internet worked without a hitch, water pressure was awesome. I was a happy camper.
This is a great place to come, whether as a business stay like mine, or as a romantic getaway or family travel. The little ones have the pool amenities and there is the food available onsite.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton Kansas City Speedway has it all. Our first evening we shuffled on over to Legends Outlets which is nearby so shopping, and the Hollywood Casino, plus the Kansas City Speedway are all nearby!
Parking is free as well. Note that my navigation took me in the back way and I had to drive on back a little before finding the hotel. It’s there and they are ready and waiting for you to arrive!
