Anniversary in Paris, Paris TN!

This last week we started on an epic road trip to Decatur, Alabama and on the way stopped in Paris, Paris, Tennessee! We made a Civil War stop at the Land Between the Lakes. The beautiful scenery kept us from noticing as clouds gathered the night before our 41st anniversary

Last year for our 40th, we were supposed to go to Ireland. Blogger Jody Halsted had put together an amazing trip for us and my brother and sister-in law. You know what happened to that! The same thing that happened this year. Hopefully Ireland 2022 or bust!

Anyway, as clouds gathered rain began in earnest and my phone kept going off with warnings for a Flash Flood watch!

Paris Tennessee

We drove into Paris and found refuge at the comfortable Quality Inn. After securing lodging, we were directed to Moustos Pasta & Grill where we enjoyed authentic Italian food.  We both ordered the salad and seafood ravioli which was freshly made with Alfredo sauce. Our only complaint was there was more food than we could eat.  The restaurant was lovely and the food filling and good offering comfort from the scary down pour we had just driven through! We did laugh a bit though when all of the patrons phones went off in a loud alarm. So glad we had a place to stay. Flash Flood was right!

Eiffel Tower Park in Paris Tennessee

When I was 50, Keith took me to Paris for my birthday, Paris France that is. In our bedroom we have a beloved picture of us in front of the Eiffel tower. My parents, Bill and Lora Disque eloped to Paris, Illinois to get married. Paris has a fond affinity to me, being a bit of a Francophile, Paris anywhere it seems! I make stops anywhere there is a Paris connection! When I learned that there was an Eiffel Tower in Paris, Tennessee, we knew we had to get our picture taken in front of it on our anniversary!

The tower is in Eiffel Tower in Park! The beautiful steel tower stands 60′ tall. A kind Paris City official took our picture recreating a photo we took in Paris over a decade ago.

We were also excited to walk  the nice ¾ mile walking/bike trail that offered a chance to stretch our legs before hitting the road.

So we can say we celebrated our anniversary in Paris!

George Jones and me!

This stop reminded me, and of course I had to play the song for Keith, of the George and Tammy song “We’re not the Jet Set where Paris. Tennessee is mentioned. Of course we do seem to be much more the Chevrolet (GMC) set than the jet set these days.

Forty one years and counting!
