Marla & Cindy’s Review of D & J Café
It’s been six month’s rather than a month since our last restaurant review of the Springfield Carriage House, but hey, life happens! Marla took me out for a birthday breakfast this morning and we tried D & J Café on Laurel in Springfield, Illinois. Years ago my colleagues and I used to head over the D J’s for horseshoes but it has been years since dining here. A while back my hair dresser Jeff at Engels on Edwards mentioned it was a great place for breakfast so Marla and I decided to try it out.
Two Thumbs Up
Marla gave it a two thumbs up. She ordered eggs and toast and I ordered a western omelet. We both had good food and good service. The restaurant was busy, but quiet so we were able to catch up while we enjoyed our meal!
The diner is well staffed and the food was good. I enjoyed the omelet and the waitress was quick with refills on our coffee and tea.
History
The restaurant has been around for a long time. There is a plaque outside the door sharing that “The Historic D& J Cafe, A Springfield landmark serving American Cuisine in the same location since October 1974.”
I’m not sure why it took me so long to find it!
Artwork
There are murals on the back at D & J Cafe, Marla and I thought it a fitting place for a selfie! Anytime we can get together and have fun its a win win!
Good food, good service a historic location and a little bit of art, at D & J Cafe, who can ask for more!
