A ride on Earthquake!

Earthquake

In the last few weeks, I have scratched a couple things off my bucket list. Last weekend, I rode in a steam engine, today, I got the chance to ride on Earthquake, the 75,000 lb. 750 horsepower tractor.

Earthquake was on hand at the 2023 Half Century of Progress show. The tractor was built by Rite Manufacturing of Great Falls Montana.

Owned by the Randall Brothers, Lee Randall secured me a ride this afternoon on this mammoth machine!

Plowing with Earthquake.

Before I got the chance to ride in this amazing piece of machinery, I rode in the Plow Patrol with Mr. Randall behind Earthquake. We watched the dirt part like the Red Sea under Earthquake’s power, and huge 15 bottom plow.

Big Bud is the world’s largest tractor, but Earthquake is the 2nd largest. It has a V12 Detroit Diesel engine. Scott Randall, Lee’s son who drove the machine, said that the fuel tank holds 200 gallons!

The Ride

Besides Scott’s son Luke, there was one other rider, Rob, the Randalls neighbor. Rob and I were excited for the opportunity at the Half Century of Progress. Scratch one more item off the bucket list. Steam engine, Earthquake, now I just need a ride in a seaplane, or perhaps a bigger bucket for my list!
