Billie Jo Jones a shining star!

For years I have been a big fan of country music. I love to travel to see country music history, and listen when I get the chance! Recently, I got the opportunity to interview singer songwriter Billie Jo Jones and learn about her story and music. This country music singer is a Texas Native. “I was born and raised in Emory, Texas. My grandpa and grandma raised me,” she added.

Raised on old country, Billie Jo said, “I listened to the oldies, and I would perform concerts for my grandparents.”
This was when she was just four and five, and she was singing in church at nine. “I started playing local festivals and fairs. I learned to play the guitar when I was 14, my dad taught me.”
Her dad owned a ranch where they would ride horses and pick the guitar. As time went on, Billie Jo said, “After that, I’ve been playing over the years all over Texas,” Upcoming tour dates include Nashville as well.
Things have changed these days. Rather than performing for her grandparents in their living room, now they are seeing her up in lights. “Now my grandparents see me up on the big stage. They go with me to most of my shows. They are 90 and 86.”
The Band and her songs.
Billie Jo Jones band has two members that have been with her for eleven years, and one for nine. She is still trying to find a bass player that sticks.
Writing songs came with maturity. “I didn’t start writing until I was 24. On my last album, I wrote three of ten songs.”
Now at 34, she said her new album that will be released this year has ten songs out of 13 that were written by her. When asked, she said her favorite song she has written is “She Did” that was written for her grandparents. “My mom was a drug addict and still is. I wrote about my feelings, and so many people can relate to it.”
When listening to her music Billie Jo said, “I want people to look me up and read my story. I’ve never given up on my dreams.”
After listening to the song, I admit to having a few tears! Billie Jo Jones strikes right at your heart with her vibrant voice, and heart tugging words. The song is a wonderful tribute. “I want to touch people with my music,” Billie Jo said. For me at least, this was fait accompli!
New Album and family and future.
Her new album comes out in November titled Flame, and the debut song will be released April 11th. “Flame is a true story with a little Jolene twist, about how I would and had handled it,” she shared about the Dolly Parton tune. “It is a woman empowerment song, but it is for both sexes.”
Billie Jo is a mom with four children ages 8 – 15. “My best friend is my babysitter. I am blessed that she watches my children, I have a great support system.”
Getting to raise her family, travel with her grandparents, and do what she loves is how Billie Jo Jones is fulfilling her dream. When we spoke, she said, “There is a big secret. Everyone will be seeing me everywhere, but I can’t tell. Life has been a whirlwind, and I have just hung on for dear life.”
We will have to keep checking out her music, her social media and news about this rising star! Have you seen her perform, share your comments!
