Spring Walk thru Lincoln Memorial Gardens
Famous landscape architect Jens Jensen designed Lincoln Memorial Gardens. The garden is dedicated to the Land of Lincoln son, Abraham Lincoln. This is a place I walk every spring and summer. I have been coming since high school, and this beautiful place is wrapped in memories for me, my family and many others.

My husband Keith and I along with my sister Debbie and her husband Dean had our engagement pictures taken here. Each year the grandkids walk the trails with me and share the beauty of this tranquil place!

I knew there had been some updating. But I was amazed to see a whole new addition on the side of the visitor’s center. A place to share a picnic, jot down a poem, or sip water after a hike. Then for the little ones, new playground equipment has made this a perfect place to take the kids on a beautiful spring day.

Keith and I chose to go for a walk last week. We were thrilled with the blooming trees, flowers and wispy clouds overhead. During our walk, we met Larry Miller, who was the head Gardner at Lincoln Memorial Gardens for 30 years!

Larry shared some of the flower information with us and said he was walking the trails for exercise.

I know just what he means. Just because you retired from this beautiful place doesn’t mean you would say goodbye!

If you live close by, or head to Springfield this summer, take a minute to take a stroll, get a little nature, beauty and tranquility that only a spring or summer walk can provide!

Bob and I and Chad had our pictures taken at Lincoln Memorial Gardens when he was a baby. It’s such a beautiful relaxing place! Is that a photo of blue bells?
