It is always fun to get information on new country stars. I always want to listen to music when on the road and Juna N Joey and Trey Calloway are new additions to my music list.

The brother and sister duo Juna N Joey are Nashville based although they have roots in South Florida where they grew up. Juna loved music early on learning songs from Frank Sinatra when she was four. “I learned L.O.V.E. from the Little Rascals.”

Juna knew early on what she wanted to do. It was at a music lesson where Joey had tagged along that the teacher asked Joey, “Can you sing?”.

After hearing him hum soon the two were heading to the School of Rock program and performing music videos on Youtube and Ticktock., they became music influencers. It was on social media that they came to the attention of the music agents and producers. Performing at South Florida festivals and on their social media channels this brought in TV and brand offers. Juna N Joey teamed up with Wrangler, Hey Dude, Breedlove and more. Their amazing harmonies blend perfectly in their music, with many songs written both together and individually. “We are always writing,” Juna shared.

They also write with others, and for others. Moving to Nashville as a family they formed their duo back in 2013 or 2014 when Juna was 9, and Joey 12. “We met our agent when we performed at Starbucks, she saw something in us,” Juna said. Today Jua is 21, and Joey 23.

They opened and performed in the family entertainment venue Round Hear in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. On their website they share, “Our mission is to create a home for music lovers and foodies alike. Whether you’re catching a live show, grabbing dinner with friends, or joining us for one of our signature music nights, you’ll always feel like part of the Round Hear family…”

Besides expanding their own careers, at Round Hear, they are also supporting other singers and writers through the venue. The latest music by the duo is “Stop Thinking”. Released by Country Evolution they state, “The reflective track captures the emotional in-between of a breakup, when moving forward feels necessary but memories of what might have been, but are hard to escape.”

This song was written by Juna N Joey, and Bradley Collins. “We are looking forward to touring, and excited about where the venue takes us,” Joey said. Besides music, Joey said he likes to go to the gym and play cards. Juna is into cooking, baking and digital designs. Whatever they are into, their music is lovely, and the new song is beautiful.

Another new voice I am just learning about is Trey Calloway, a singer with a traditional old country sound.

Trey Calloway is a North Carolina boy. “I am originally from North Carolina, I grew up north of Charlotte,” he shared telling me how he got started. “My father was a Pentecostal evangelist he would preach at revivals and I would sing before he preached. I was six when I first started singing in church.

It wasn’t until he was 13 or 14 that he started listening to country music. “I got into Garth Brooks, and George Strait, then in high school musicians like Jason Aldean etc. My mom and dad exposed me to all kinds of music. Dad loved Metallica and mom country.”

When he was 22, Trey moved to Myrtle Beach and played there for a few years before moving to the Nashville four years ago. Today at 34, he is a seasoned entertainer that sings and writes music as well. “I write a lot of songs. I had a songwriting session today” Trey said. “Most songs I put out were written by me or co-written by me, but I have recently added songs that have been pitched to me. That is a pretty cool feeling.”

While Trey said he loves the song writing process, he said, “My passion is on stage if I make people happy it is a job well done. I just finished a new album,” amazingly he added, “I have put out an album a year since moving to Nashville.”

His new album is soon to be out he said they have been adding new songs like the release Hank U. Trey is getting excited about the upcoming tour and the chance to share his new music. “I tour in southeast and Texas, I’m going to Ohio soon to play at the Dusty Armadillo. We are going to have a good time. I play guitar mainly, and a little harmonica, banjo and little piano, and first learned to play on the drums. But unless you are Don Henley, it is hard to sing and play.”

Trey said one of his favorite new songs is Must’ve Had a Good Time, a fun video accompanies this rowdy song. Trey also loves, Your Love is Safe with Me, which I found very moving. He said his highest streaming song is She Misses Being Mrs. a heart wrenching love story. “Then I have one more,” he shared, “Horses in Heaven dedicated to a dear friend I lost some time ago. Andrew Russell was a very talented musician. The song just seemed fitting.”

When asked how he wraps his faith into his musical career, Trey said, “I think there have been moments I have asked the Lord, but I think we are right with each other, and I feel like God gave me a gift. Almost every album has a gospel song on it including the new one. My gospel roots run deep.”

Trey is a family man. He just celebrated his first anniversary with his wife Raina and has an 11-year-old son named Cash. “He is very musical, and is named after Johnny Cash, I am still a huge fan. We wanted him to have a good stage name.”

While today he lives in Nashville, he still has North Carolina roots that is where his family lives. “My mom is from Cornelius and dad from Charlotte, and I grew up in Lucia.”

Loving what he does these days, Trey added, “I would say my favorite part is a tie between recording and live shows, both are amazing in their own way. I love the creative process with a great band when it really clicks. On other side of coin, I love entertaining people, it makes it all worth it. I love people and genuinely hope to change the world with my music. I hope it keeps gaining speed and traction. As long as they listen and love it, I will keep making songs.”

Put these two musical acts on your horizon and let me know what you think!
