Karen Waldrup Release’s “Keeping the Faith”

Are you like me and always looking for good music while on the road? I can’t be behind the wheel without a good country song on the radio. So, it was a joy to catch up with Karen Waldrup and learn what this country singer is up to. With over a million Facebook followers, this Top 5 finalist on The Voice in 2025 is making her way to the top of the charts. May 8th is the release date for her brand-new single Keeping the Faith off her album No Way Back.
About her new song, that deals with our everyday struggles, Karen said, “Keeping the Faith is all about hope. It’s believing everything is going to be alright during times of doubting. It is about the beauty of optimism. I have strong faith that everything is going to be ok.”
Experiencing music early on in the church choir Karen said her faith holds her strong in times of trouble. “That is the reason I’m still standing here. Tough times make tough people.”
Growing up in Louisiana, she moved to Nashville after graduating from South Mississippi College. Her family lives in South Carolina, but she said her band members are like family. One member is particular is her best friend. Chris Schafner, Karen said has stood by her through thick and thin. Her song Me Again profiles times like those.
When she first moved to Nashville, Karen had a day job selling copy machines for a few years, while playing music at night. Today she is into music fulltime. “I came to Nashville and went all in. I write songs, play everywhere and take advantage of every opportunity I’ve been here since 2008.”
Knowing what you want in life is a huge plus when seeking a career with a God given talent like Karen Waldrup possesses. “I have loved singing ever since I was a child,” Karen said. When she was in church choir and saw Chris Eschete playing an acoustic guitar she was hooked. She said, “If he can do it so can I”. Taking up the guitar, she took lessons and in the meanwhile forged a special friendship with Chris. “We call him Brother Chris. He sends me songs all the time,” she added.
Karen Waldrup is living the dream and can’t believe she is working in music fulltime Music City. “I’m still not where I believe this is normal life.”
These days her newest companion is her dog Rica. “She was a stray and stumbled on to my street,” Karen said. She was in Puerto Rico at the time, and her neighbor kept the German Shepherd mix with Karen in mind. Here new furry friend fit right in.
Karen writes many of her own songs. Her very first album was Justified with the standout track Sometimes He Does. Karen has been and the “Facebook Artist of the Day”, and her video Blue Cowboy Boots spent 21 21 weeks at #1.
