True Farm Girl Adventures in a book form

True Farm Girl Adventures

My new book True Farm Girl Adventures is out!

What do you say when the farm broadcaster for RFD TV and more Max Armstrong provides a preview for your book? Thank you is not sufficient about how I felt. Max penned his kind words in the forward of my new book True Farm Girl Adventures. He said, “True Farm Girl Adventures just made me smile, as I recalled my own stories. I bet you will have the same reaction. And memories that grab the heart, bring warm feelings and make us smile are true gifts from God to be cherished.”

The story

This book has been a labor of love. A twisty turning journey. One going from blog stories and article adventures into my first memoir/travel book. For me, the book is a love letter to the places and people I have met along the way. From a Salt Lick Auction to veteran tales, to meeting agricultural entrepreneurs and tractor collectors that tell the story of farming in a variety of ways.

The People

So many of the people I wrote about are gone. I dedicated the book to my family friend and travel companion Rose Hammitt. She was involved in almost every facet of my life. Rose was more than a friend. She and her husband Mike were family. Others mentioned in the book brought so much impact to my life, whether it was a short meeting, or a long friendship.

Credit

Credit goes to Jack and Kim LaFountain of House of Honor for the idea of True Farm Girl Adventures. They published my short story fiction collection, Farm Girl Adventures. They thought a book about my adventures would be worthy. But they didn’t have the ability to add pictures. Wanting photos to better reflect the stories, I took their advice and published the book on my own with their blessings. But I acknowledge their contribution.

Thank yous.

The book was published through Rudin Press, where Loretta Prindle the owner of Senior News & Times for Illinois has worked for years. It seemed a perfect fit. My friend, artist, and professional photographer, Gwen Montgomery took pictures making me feel like a tractor cover girl model. My friend and hairdresser Jeff Engels, of Engels on Edwards, did my hair and make-up. Thank you!
