Duck’s Unlimited Waterfowling Heritage Center – a little education
There used to be a big Ducks Unlimited banquet that happened every year near where I live. Each year I helped my friend and a group of women put on the banquet and we had a great time raising money for a great cause. Whether you are a hunter or not, Ducks Unlimited plays a huge role in wetlands conservation so if you are into preserving the wetlands and ecology, this is a cause that may be right up your alley.
The Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid in Memphis opened their new Ducks Unlimited Waterfowling Heritage Center on April 29, 2015. The center offers visitors a chance to learn about wetlands conservation and the history of waterfowling in North America.
The display is on the second floor. The first floor has the entrance to the Big Cypress Lodge and the opening of the Bass Pro Shop along with a pond filled with a variety of fish, and things to look at in every direction. I really think you could spend a day in this place and not really see it all.
After heading upstairs to the DU exhibit you can see a variety of pictures depicting the past along with Ducks Unlimited memorabilia. A second section contains a marvelous collection of antique duck calls, decoys and guns.
Ducks Unlimited was established in 1937 and continues into today. If in Memphis, think about stopping to see this historic display!
